Mereo BioPharma

Mereo is a speciality biopharmaceutical company that was founded in March 2015 to fund and develop innovative products from large pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, with a focus on rare and orphan diseases.

Mereo identified premises in central London in mid-2015 and needed a professional IT company to project manage their new offices from an empty space to a fully networked office environment. The finished office would include all the necessary computer infrastructure to support twenty plus business professionals with the ability to grow seamlessly and work efficiently both locally and remotely.

As a small start-up with limited internal bandwidth we were looking for an IT provider who was able to provide expert guidance, project manage the initial set up and deliver to agreed timelines. itQED took a proactive approach from day one, including provision of invaluable input to the office layout and being on site at critical times. Upon moving into the office the network was already installed and fully operational, and users were able to get up and running within minutes. The subsequent support has been excellent, with issues dealt with extremely promptly, whether on-site or remotely using the telephone support line. itQED managed the design and installation of a wired and wireless based network and then supplied and installed an HP server running a number of virtual servers on Hyper-V 2012 as well as desktops, laptops and peripherals. Comprehensive security was included encompassing spam and malware protection and by the installation of Cisco firewalls. Company-wide email was set up for staff via Microsoft Office 365 which provides ultimate flexibility with mail available to users from anywhere and on a multitude of devices including phones and tablets. Multiple levels of backup were implemented, including Microsoft’s Azure Backup which incorporates on-site and off-site backup as well as comprehensive backup to the cloud and is based around Microsoft Data Protection Manager. Three meeting rooms were equipped with large format touch-screen flat panel monitors providing an ideal environment for interactive presentations and meetings.

Neftex have a unique set of requirements, from line-of-business software and massive amounts of data to the need to respond quickly to the demands of a constantly changing industry. The network can accommodate these needs through its dynamic infrastructure, which allows for fast and reliable changes to storage and the implementation of virtual machines. IT-QED implemented, and continues to maintain, a virtualised farm of servers that hosts Neftex’s website and their client extranet

On-Going Support

Having designed and implemented the new office infrastructure, itQED
continue to provide Mereo with support via a combination of remote, onsite
and telephone assistance.
The implementation of a fully integrated support-call management and
network monitoring system allows itQED to provide proactive, swift and
appropriate response to problems whenever they occur.
